Jeff Probst blogs ‘Survivor: Samoa’: episode #10 | EW.com
November 20th, 2009 | posted by cwalton |
Two big reasons: The first is this… Survivor is an individual game: I keep saying it because it’s important. You can never take your eyes off the prize and the prize is ONE check for a million dollars. Not four checks, each for $250,000. Not 8 checks each for $125,000. ONE check for ONE million dollars. As long as Survivor remains an individual game it will continue to have unexpected flips and flops because everybody has their own agenda and that will always cause chaos.
The second reason for the Foa Foa comeback is “Game Play.”
Here’s my take on how Game Play factored into the comeback:
33% Russell’s individual game play, 33% Foa Foa sticking together and 33% Galu just flat out blowing one of the most dominant leads in Survivor history. It’s like they lost their brains somewhere in the South Pacific. And as of last night’s episode, they still haven’t found it.YOU’RE AN IDIOT
I laughed out loud when John assessed Galu’s various voting strategies, each followed with: “You’re an idiot.”

I cannot believe that I am saying this. On episode one my wife and I as well as all our friends immediately dispised Russell however Russell is an incredible player, the best this show has ever had. From my perspective he is the first player on Survivor that you just “hate to love”. He has earned the right to win this game.

I too could not stand russell at the start of the season. After Galu tribe made all their comments about him I turned my opinion around and wanted him to find the idols and win. i was so happy last night when he found that idol after dopey Dave completely missed it. Russell I hope you win and win big. if I was on the jury i would vote for you to win. You are a number one player and you have outwitted and outsmarted everyone. kepp up the good dirty work.

I will agree with you, However we are not there and it seemed that the hold atage of finding a needle in haystack… Came to life last night. In a one in a Billion Chance he finds the Iddle under a Rock… I know we did not see the video up close for the hint, but I have to question this one… I know about all the contracts Etc, But this is kind of strange that the Idle was found under a Rock on a Island… Is it that last seasons show was not that great in my eyes, and they were wondering about the shows reputation…. Just a thought.

LOL… you rock Mr. Probst! Were did you find this Russel! Plus I really want to know if you assigned secret security to protect the survivors against Russel either tricking them into running over a cliff or trying to swim out past the point of no return… I half expected Dave to fall into a pit with spikes in it when Russel started leading him on a run lol…
I guess now that Russel is keeping the Immunity Idol to himself, it’ll be Russel-won-Immunity-or-found-Immunity-Idol at the next tribal, followed by random tribe members going missing in the middle of the night until Russel wins by default!
I think Russel’s next move will be to find a volcano and begin the human sacrifices of those who look at him sideways or who vote for themselves to go by conspiring against Russel.
LOL! It’s funny that all it would take is one vote to get rid of Russel’s pick… HIS VOTE! … if the tribe begins to turn on him since he possesses hidden immunity.
Thanks Mr. Probst and Survivor! for the best season ever…

Let’s re-name the show and call it: The Russell Show.

On the subject of Russell like him or not, he is the best player this show has ever had. He started this game as a game and continues to play it that way. From the very first show I knew the game play would be better then anything we’ve seen in past seasons. My wife and I nicknamed him the “Evil Leprechaun” and love the way he is playing. So many times you get people on the show that can’t believe it when they get wet, go hungry, can’t sleep or get blindsided and so on and so on that you have to wonder…Did you ever watched the show before you entered to be a contestant? The Evil Leprechaun knows it’s a game, plays it as a game and with any Leprechaun luck will walk away with it all.

Why all the fuss about Russ? Russell is a charming, sweet guy with a big heart that keeps on giving … the BEST DARN SEASON EVER!
In past seasons, I was amazed by tacticians and strategists Like Mao, by physical players like Oscar, and even by outright liars like Johnny Fairplay…Russell takes their best atributes and rolls them into one little package, except for the physical part. He is wildly entertaining, the kind of player most people would want to be, and have to be in order to win, but are too afraid of what the folks back home would think!
Keep going Russ, your bravado and acumen are serving you well.

It has become very apparent with my wife, and co-workers, that to maintain ratings and to add “spice” to Survivor, the last few weeks has been scripted-it is hard to really believer that one team would let a 8-4 team member lead slip away..why not vote for the arrogant, rude, disrespectful Russell this past Thursday-and why didn’t Russell play it like he did the previous two shows???
We all smell a producer set up, and we don’t like it..We have all decided not to watch the show going forward, since the producers are deciding who moves on each week..Hey producers, did you ever think about hiding the hidden immunity in a litle harder place so more then one clue would be required to find it?

I have three words for John the rocket scientist:
“You’re an idiot.”
Why? Well everyone-including John himself- seems to have forgotten who first had the idea to disrupt the Galu alliance. I think John referred to voting for A Foa Foa as “junior Varsity Survivor” and he convinced Erik to go for Monica, and that worked just great for Erik, didn’t it. I guess that “Rocket Scientist” tag will help him condescend and blind people to his poor decisions.
And Russell has now broken Galu twice through the same person, who was that? Oh of course, it was our condescending genius.

T-hanks to Mark Burnett, we have Survivor!
H-avoc at the campfire and talk of RBG’s Picasso painting
A-disappointed queen Laura thinks and plans
N-ear dawn, RBG searched for another hidden idol. Would three times be a charm?
K-nives in the back…will John flip?
S-winging cat’s cradle challenge results in an island excursion and clues for the hidden idol
G-olden midas touch for RBG and he finds a third hidden idol
I-mmunity challenge of tile breakage and target practice which Mick wins and Laura loses
V-oting at tribal council…which way will it go?
I-ndecision and a possible fake-out plan by old Galu. John weighs his flipping options.
N-ever one to mince his words at tribal council, Jeff speaks his mind. Did you know that CSB is selling a Jeff Probst bobblehead doll (I gotta get one)
G-alu and Laura buh-bye. Old Foa Foa finally has strength in numbers (at least until the game is down to the next even number of 8!).

Jeff, To answer your question, my current favorite player is Russell, no doubt. What amazes me most about the guy is that his arrogance doesn’t seem to screw with his perceptions about his position in relation to others nor his heightened awareness of his surroundings. He’s a really interesting character with a lot of native intelligence and great resourcefulness. His ESP is off the charts too. How else could he be able to hone in on those hidden idols? Best player you’ve ever found. I doubt that he can win the $$$ but he’s making a big mark in reality TV and with your audience. BTW, I didn’t like the guy in the beginning either. LOL.

One Note: Jeff seems to be giving credit to Russel (whom, yes, i hate to love and think he rocks this show!) for the decision to Vote for Laura; HOWEVER, Laura was not Russel’s first choice .. only because SHAMBO dug her heels in and insisted that no matter what anyone else did, the only name she was writing down was Laura’s, the other Foa Foa had NO CHOICE but to go with voting Laura if they were to stand any chance of “having the numbers” to get out a Galu. Had Shambo been persuaded to vote for someone else, then I don’t believe Laura would have been sent home. SHAMBO is the one who refused to budge on her vote, thus causing everyone else to do what SHE wanted (not what Russel wanted). I’m just sayin’. :-)

As good a player as Russell is
HE DOES NOT NEED THE MONEY!!!!!!
By Deanna on Nov 29, 2009 | Reply
It doesn’t matter who needs the money, or who doesn’t. Russhole, is a jerk, and makes the show hard to watch. I’m a Survivor Junkie, and usually just thrill at watching. BUT… the last two seasons have become tiresome, and contrived. The editors need to pull their heads out of their A$$es, and let the fans get introduced to ALL of the contestants. Previous seasons showed the interactions between the people on each tribe. We knew who to cheer, or boo. But the last two seasons have been the BEN aka (Coach) show, and the Russhole show. I don’t think I’ll watch after this season, if it doesn’t change. The recap just made me more determined that I’m wasting my time. Those were clips that should have been shown throughout the show, so the viewers would know what’s REALLY going on. I give this season a HUGE F. PLEASE HIRE SOME NEW EDITORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I LIKE THE NICKNAME FOR RUSSELL, RUSSHOLE, BUT IN A GOOD WAY. IT MAKES ME LAUGH AND IS WHAT I WOULD CALL HIM IF I WAS PLAYING AGAINST HIM. I THINK HE IS A GREAT PLAYER AND A JOY TO WATCH. THIS IS A GREAT SURVIVOR. SURVIVOR FANS DITTY AND BAM BAM OF CAMDEN DELAWARE.
